Laker Paint Company
was founded in 1979 at its current site in Darra, in
Brisbane’s Western Suburbs. Its founder was Art Van
Hees, a chemist and veteran of some twenty years in
the Australian Paint Industry, having originally worked
in polymer research in Europe.
The company has
a core of 6 full-time personnel and includes a fully
qualified and very experienced paint chemist, providing
a depth of support unequalled in the industry.
The company’s products
are locally formulated and manufactured providing the
unique opportunity to optimise its paints for the Queensland
climate. Drying rates, for instance, suit Brisbane perfectly
but would be completely unsuitable for Melbourne, and
resistance to the ultraviolet component in sunlight
is boosted substantially above the requirement for southern
states. National manufacturers must tailor their products
to suit the whole continent, and consequently don’t
suit any area as well as they could. Our Quality control
is exacting and an ISO 9002 Quality Assurance Program
has been implemented.
The product range
includes the full spectrum of architectural coatings
for interior and exterior situations in a full range
of gloss levels; Primers and Undercoats for timber,
fibro, masonry & wallboards, etc; and a full range of
enamels including an excellent self-priming Matt enamel
suitable for VJ ceilings in kitchens and bathrooms.
There are also clear varnishes for interior and exterior
use, timber preservatives, flooring finishes and a number
of specialty lines for unusual situations.
Laker Paint currently
holds the Brisbane south side agency for Ameron Coatings,
which provides access to an excellent range of commercial
and industrial maintenance products such as woodstains
and lacquers, fast dry enamels, metal primers and two-pack
finishes for a variety of end uses.
We are a small team
whose aim in life is to provide a product of superior
quality at an affordable price, together with a level
of service that is unequalled. We try to put "more value
in the can"; a product that is easier to use, lasts
longer and costs less, with the service to make it the
right paint for the right job every time.
